A nurse with a simple idea

I'm Shari, a registered nurse. Over a decade ago, I had a patient who came to the ER with stroke-like symptoms. We determined she had taken her sleeping pill twice. Frequent dosage problems like this led me to invent a user-friendly, technology-free, inexpensive device to help patients take their medication correctly. The result is Countapiller, a simple, affordable solution for patients and caregivers.

This great device works as a reminder for nasal spray too! I could never remember if I’d used my spray in the morning - now I always know! Highly recommend.

This single bottle pill-minder is a clever concept that can be used with a variety of prescription bottles. Preferably ones that are bigger. The overall diameter of the dial could be reduced a little bit in order to allow for easier removal of the cap. That's my only criticism. The rubber strap, while somewhat crude, does the job and should work with the majority of standard medication bottles. The use of the dials is simple and they stay secure enough that won't rotate alone even if bumped around or squeezed in a purse or bag full of stuff. No batteries required. Just your fingers when you reach for the bottle and take your medicine.

I have a pain med that I am to take every 4 hrs. or as needed. Because I sometimes go 5, 5 1/2 or 6 hrs. I have trouble remembering when I took my last dose. I want to make sure it is at least 4 hrs. Now, as soon as I pick the bottle up, I check on when I took the last dosage and then reset the device before I take the next dosage. No more worries that I am taking my med too soon.

This device straps around your pill bottle and allows you to turn the dial to designate when was the last time medication was dispensed. It is easy to install and adjust. One con is that is only lets you track by day and hour medication is dispensed. If you need more granularity than that (down to the quarter or half hour for instance) it will not work for that. I also find the time of day dial a little hard to read and my reading glasses are only a +1 so keep that in mind when purchasing. The day of the week is fine for me to read, it is just the time that I struggle with a bit. All in all, good especially for multiple people who share the care of a loved one, and don't want to take the chance of doubling up a dose.
